What is preputioplasty?
Preputioplasty is a surgical procedure performed to widen a tight foreskin (phimosis). Circumcision is widely done for tight penile foreskin. When one wishes to retain the foreskin preputioplasty is done. Circumcision removes the foreskin while preputioplasty releases the tight band on the foreskin.
How Preputioplasty is Performed?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. Incisions are made in the foreskin to release the constricting ring of tissue. These are then closed and stitched to increase the girth of the foreskin so that it can be become fully and easily retracted. Preputioplasty Procedural Steps

PHIMOSIS is a condition in which the foreskin can’t be retracted (pulled back) from around the tip of the penis. PARAPHIMOSIS A condition called paraphimosis can also result when the foreskin is retracted, but can’t be moved back into its normal position. This may require emergency medical attention. BALANITIS Balanitis is inflammation (redness, pain, swelling, pus, itching, bleeding, cracking, foul smell) of the glans penis. Balanitis can occur in males at any age. FRENULOPLASTY The small tag of skin on the underside of your penis, between your foreskin and the shaft of your penis, is called the frenulum. The frenulum is sometimes tight and can tear, usually during sex. While circumcision can help this condition, frenuloplasty is a specialized technique that seeks to treat solely this condition while preserving the foreskin.
